Garden Route and work

We got to travel around the Garden Route this whole week.

The steering wheel is on the right side!
On Wednesday we went to Crossways Farm Village, the site of our project. It is about two hours away from the office at Knysna and Eugene and Larissa drove us there. We looked around and got a good feel of what the project is about and our role within it. It is an high-end agricultural village designed around a scientifically managed dairy farm. We are striving to make it very innovative and sustainable but at the same time it will have an old school country feel. Matt will be working on the storm-water management and I will work on the waste-water management. I love the idea and I'm really motivated to work!

We met Dr. Munster there and we stopped by Jeffereys bay, a town known worldwide for its awesome surf. I'm hoping to catch some of those waves one weekend. There is a competition called Billabong Pro at J-bay July 15-25 and we might go see it.

Mosselbaai
On Thursday we went to Mossel bay a beautiful town that look like a little San Francisco mixed with a bit of Acapulco. It is beautiful and this picture doesn't make it justice. Then we went to Botlierskop, a private game reserve where we saw some people riding elephants.

Today we went to the entrance to the lagoon called the Heads (live webcam) on our bikes. It took an hour to get there but they are remarkable. When the British came they rated it the most dangerous passage on ship in the world.

The Heads
Today's Afrikaans word of the day is:

Braai meaning barbecue or grill.  Use it like " Hey I'm having a braai at my house tomorrow" or "Can you go check on the braai?"
