Arrived in paradise! Nice na?

Sunset at the Island
I have arrived at one of the most beautiful places on earth. It is called Knysna (pronunced nice na?) and it is a place where all you dreams can come true. Haha. Seriously. Here is the link to the map so you can get a feel for where it is. Don't forget to use street view! Matt and I are staying in Thesens Island a really cool place developed by CMAI, the company I'm working for. We got a loft apartment converted from an old boat shed. It is one of the coolest places I've ever stayed at. (Picture coming soon)

The people here are very friendly. I learned my first word in Afrikaans - Lekker. It means nice, pleasant, sweet or cool. It reminds me of the Costa Rican word "Tuanes", or the Mexican word "Padre" - meaning cool.
I'm really impressed by the conservation mentality in South Africa. It makes sense considering the beautiful and abundant natural resources. People in Knysna are specially known for eating quality organic food, grass-fed beef, etc. and just having a more appreciative view of nature.
Awesome surf dude

So here is a list of nature-related stuff I want to do:

  • Surfing - This part of the country has world-famous waves
  • Scuba diving - There's a species of  seahorse that only lives in the lagoon
  • Safaris - Elephants, Lions, Hyenas, Penguins, yes Penguins!
  • Fishing
  • Hiking and mountain biking - I'm going to buy a bike to use while I'm here.

We are going to Crossways Farm Village (the project we will be working on) tomorrow so I'll keep you updated!
